Diana Sole, Executive Producer and Contributing Writer
If you were about to battle a wrestler the size of Andre the
Giant, you’d want someone who knows a few tricks in the
ring.
Diana
Sole has faced the beast called a documentary before and won.
Diana, the executive producer of "A Moving Monument: The
West Virginia State Capitol" and a contributing writer,
also has steered MotionMasters through the completion of several
other successful documentaries.
Her
company’s credits include "The Soul of the Senate:
A Documentary of U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd," "A
Principled Man: Rev. Leon Sullivan" and "John Marshall:
Citizen, Statesman, Jurist."
Diana
is a veteran of the communications industry. She has been president
of MotionMasters since 1988 and prior to that served as its
vice president and executive producer.
With
nearly 30 years in the industry, she has led innumerable public
relations, advertising and marketing campaigns designed to educate,
motivate and persuade. Under her direction, the company has
evolved from a film and video firm serving West Virginia clients
to an award-winning producer of educational media and documentaries
that are distributed nationally.
In
addition to leading MotionMasters, she served as the communications
director and spokeswoman for the 1996 campaign of former West
Virginia Gov. Cecil H. Underwood. Political candidates, corporations
and nonprofit organizations have sought her strategic communications
consulting.
Her
communications and business skills led to her selection as editor
of Capacity magazine, a publication of the Robert C. Byrd Institute
that focuses on economic and business issues in West Virginia,
principally those affecting the manufacturing sector. Diana
is the associate editor of WeSave magazine, a publication that
goes to public employees in several states, including West Virginia.
She also served as the managing editor of Leverage magazine,
a publication of the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation, based in Washington,
D.C.
Diana
is active in several community service organizations. She currently
serves as a member of the Charleston Area Alliance Board of
Directors and is a member of its executive committee. She is
vice president of the board of Kanawha-Putnam Habitat for Humanity,
a group she has been actively involved with since 1990. She
was a co-founder and co-chair of the Charleston Area Medical
Center Foundation’s Children’s Fund Gala and is
a member of Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist, where she serves
on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. Diana was the co-general
coordinator of Celebration Station, Charleston’s community
playground that was built entirely by volunteer labor.
In
addition to the awards her company has received, Diana is a
1997 recipient of the State Journal's "Who’s Who
in West Virginia Business" award and is a winner of the
prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Her visionary leadership is featured in the book, "Jumpstart
Your Awesome Film Production Company," published in 2005.
